Attorney James E. Silverstein was born in Beverly Hills, California, and he has lived in the Los Angeles area for over 30 years. His mission is to help people in need; those who feel oppressed and powerless. Mr. Silverstein has a particular affinity for helping juveniles and young adults turn their lives around. James E. Silverstein was raised by his mother Susan. She taught him the importance of strong work ethics, and he has been gainfully employed since the age of 15. Mr. Silverstein’s mother also taught him to be steadfast in the pursuit of his goals, dreams, and beliefs. James E. Silverstein has dedicated the success he achieves in his career to the memory of his cherished mother, whose life was cut short by cancer some years ago. For every hard-fought victory he earns for a client, Mr. Silverstein firmly believes that the spirit and wisdom of his mother guided him towards that end.

James E. Silverstein has been a Los Angeles-based Criminal Attorney his entire career. His practice is geared solely towards the representation of those individuals charged with crimes, and he is very passionate about protecting his clients’ rights. James E. Silverstein was a Dean’s List student at California State University, Northridge, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies and a Minor in Political Science. James E. Silverstein took every relevant legal course available in college to gear him up for the battle of practicing law. James E. Silverstein also served as the Vice President of the CSUN Pre-law Society.

James E. Silverstein excelled in his legal studies in Law School. He graduated at the top of his class, and earned a Juris Doctorate cum laude from Glendale University College of Law. While in Law School, James E. Silverstein won numerous American Jurisprudence Awards. American Jurisprudence Awards are given to the student who earns the highest grade in a particular course. Mr. Silverstein earned awards in Criminal Law, Agency & Partnership, Community Property, Constitutional Law, Ethics, Legal Writing, Remedies, Sales, Torts, and Trusts. James E. Silverstein also served as an editor for his school’s Law Review, and he authored an article which was published nationally.

While in Law School, James E. Silverstein was a Judicial Law Clerk for a respected Judge in the Los Angeles Superior Court, Van Nuys Branch. During this time, Mr. Silverstein gained years of invaluable insight about how to be successful in the courtroom; he observed “the good, the bad, and the ugly” of legal representation. This insight has served him well in representing his own clients.

Following James E. Silverstein’s Clerkship with the Superior Court, he received extensive training in criminal prosecution as a Certified Law Clerk with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Offices, in the Bureau of Fraud and Corruption, where he worked on complex white collar crime cases. Mr. Silverstein helped prosecute forgery, embezzlement, and multiple-defendant insurance fraud cases. Because Mr. Silverstein has worked on both the prosecution and defense sides of the criminal law table, he is uniquely able and qualified to evaluate a case’s strengths and weaknesses.

Today, James E. Silverstein represents clients at all stages of state and federal criminal proceedings, including trials, preliminary hearings, contested motions, post-conviction relief, and appeals. Mr. Silverstein conducts and oversees legal research and motion preparation. His attention to detail and ability to communicate well with others aids him in achieving positive results for his clients.

James E. Silverstein is active in the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the San Fernando Valley Bar Association.
